2. Are you helping him accomplish his goals?
3. Does she know she can count on you to get the job done the way she would want it done?
4. Does he know he can count on you to come through in an emergency?
5. Do you reflect her style?
6. Do you reflect his values?
7. Do you have a strategy for communicating effectively with your boss?
8. Does she know enough about you to care about you?
9. Does your boss like you?
10. Does your boss’s boss like you?

If you answered ‘yes’ to three or fewer questions, your boss doesn’t know you, you don’t know him—and that makes you very easy to fire. If you answered ‘yes’ to more than three questions, you might not make it onto one of those life rafts when the ship is going down—in other words, you have a lot of work to do to tune up the chemistry with your boss.
